Lesson 14 april

Ketil and TonjeOppgave 1 :- Ketil went to school in California- When he presented himself other began to ask questions about where he came from. And as a result of that he got in touch with people.- He studied the subject “ getting around “ and he played at the school soccer team.-they took him to the desert to let him drive dirt bikes, shot with guns and he also went to Disneyland and Disney world.- what made tonje’s school so special is that her school was an outside school. - In most class there were 25-35 students. - Every morning 8 o’clock you could watch school news on tv screens in every class room.

Geography project assessment

Group members : Lasse, Daniel and Stephan.

Our presentation was entitled " The liverbirds trip to anfield "
I think the whole presentation was good, but if I need to pick out what i though was best it will be when we sang " You'll never walk alone ".

What i liked about the assignment :
- The assigment was great, better than talking about some famous person etc.
- You can be creative
- This kind of assigment is great, you can use multimedia presentations.

How we could have improved our presentation:
- Could have made the trip more interersting.
- Talked less from the script
- Could have made the powerpoint presentation even better.

We worked great as a team. Everyone stood up and did something to the presentation. All had something to say when we preformed it.

The grade i think we deserved is 5. Because we were very creative ( we were the only group that sang ). We had planned a great trip with interresting places to visit.

National Stereotypes

I think national stereotypes are harder to find in our days. Let’s take the example “ Norwegians are born with ski’s on their feet” If you go skiing today you will find less people outside today than you did 50 years back ago. I saw on the TV on Monday. It was someone that had done a research looking for how many teenagers who were out skiing. They set out a camera filming the same place and I took over 1 hour before the first teenager passed it. I thought it was pretty weird since the weather was so nice, but I think the reason for this is that we have computers. If we go 50 years back in time almost every teenager were out skiing if the weather was nice. So a lot have changed in time. Another example is that we think the a typical American is often “fat” and “lazy”. Well a lot of the people in America is really fat, but there are some people that look just as we “Normal” people do to. In some countries a national stereotype can be possible, but in Norway I think it’s harder to find it today than 50 years back.

Of mice and men

Today my class were at the theathre watching the play " Of mice and men"
We saw the movie in english class a week earlier so I had some pictures of what the characters would look like, the area around and I recognized many of the lines.
The play was pretty good and funny. The actors did a great job playing their role, especially the one that played Lennie. I think playin that role need to have some skills.
It was wierd hearing it in norwegian tho, with norwegian dialect etc.
But allthough the play was great.

Of mice and men

We have in the english class started to read a book called " Of mice and men"
This book is written by John Steinbeck.
So far of what I'v have read the book is great.
It is about two guys. We have the big and the "retarted" guy Lennie and the smart small guy George.

As said i haven't read the whole book, but i have managed to read some chapters. So far lennie and george have arrived to Soledad. They are ranchers , traveling around America from ranch to ranch looking for work.

Im lookong forward to read the rest of the book. It is very exciting.
